Volunteerism
A person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or project.(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/volunteerism) Volunteering is a requirement to citizens in America it is a responsibility of ours.
Benefits of Volunteering
Although the feeling of volunteering is amazing to you know you helped someone. It looks great on your transcript if applying for college and gives you some help with getting accepted into that college.
Peace Corps and Americorps
Peace Corps travel overseas and help out the people who live there. For example, build them a church or houses if they have been destroyed in a storm or just want to have a place where the hard working citizens and their children can sleep or stay where they can be away from danger on the streets. Americorps are basically the same thing but they just stay in America with all their charity work. With alot of people affected by the storms and the economy they need help.
